With Hannes Zeeman as founder, Alumat Zeeman began as a family business in 1928 developing, manufacturing and selling products and services aimed at greenhouse horticulture. The company has since grown into a specialist in screen installations, ventilation systems and pipe, wire and sheet metal processing. Curious about our journey? 1928
In the period before 1928, Johannes Zeeman (nicknamed Hannes, 1887-1977) was a Sailor, often missing home and his family. Longing for change, he decided to take his life in a new direction and started as a painter. His specialisation in painting greenhouses soon made him the expert in the trade, making him known as the Westland's greenhouse painter. From this passion and skill, Joh. Zeeman Kassenschilder BV was born, where his legacy lives on.
1947
About 19 years later, when the first two sons moved in, Hannes decided it was an appropriate time to request the Chamber of Commerce to change the company name. From 1947, the company was officially known as Joh. Zeeman Kassenschilder en Zn. BV. This decision proved to be the right move, because not much later, the remaining four sons (Nico (1915-1986), Jo (1915-1986), Arie (1920-1978) and Jan (1926-1993) also became actively involved in the business. They practised their expertise in painting and kitting the Westland greenhouses.
1967
Rapidly, the company takes off and instead of being a contractor, they become a supplier of sealants and coatings 'from their own production'. This was soon followed by the introduction of construction components. Particularly after the Second World War, this caused a big increase in exports abroad. The sealants and coatings found their way all over the world, from Romania to America. The orders were ordered by telegrams.
1986
Third generation Hans, son of Henk Zeeman comes to work within the company, which eventually causes a major change in business activities. Father and son realise that there is an innovative future in the greenhouse horticulture sector, which becomes the focus.
The company activities come under scrutiny due to changing demand from clients and a greater focus on international greenhouse horticulture. This causes a name change: JG Zeeman sealants & glass hooks.
2003
The old premises in Monster/Ter Heijde became too small, forcing JG Zeeman to move to other accommodation. This was found on the Coldenhove industrial estate in Maasdijk.
A start is also made here on a larger foreign adventure. Foreign horticultural activities are interesting, which is why JG Zeeman Systems Int. B.V. is launched as an international branch of the company. Not only as a subcontractor for foreign projects, but also by supervising on-site assemblies.
2008
The acquisition of Alumat cs marks an important strategic step. An expansion of activities, Alumat cs is a producer and engineer of screening and ventilation systems in greenhouse construction. The new name will be Alumat Zeeman B.V., producer and supplier in greenhouse construction and industry. From January 2008, JG Zeeman Holding B.V. and Alumat cs will be covered by the same Holding, Alumat Zeeman B.V., 100%.
2012
To increase the efficiency of the company as a whole, the different locations, Alumat cs (De lier) and JG Zeeman (Maasdijk), are making space to come together at one central location: the one at Businesspark Honderdland in Maasdijk. Alumat Zeeman B.V. will also take over the companies Holland Stalucon (producer of sheet metal) and Holland Draadvorm (producer of industrial machining). The takeovers mean a substantial increase in scale for the company's own sheet metal operations and customised industrial solutions.
2017
In 2017, a new subsidiary APS Holland is formed.
The focus of APS Holland is to develop an automatic hailnett system. The weather is becoming more extreme and to reduce the risk of hail, intensive solar radiation and rain for fruit and tree growers, APS Holland is developing the hailnett system. It consists of automatic rain covers and sun protection
2020
Digital innovation! The new B2B webshop went online, meeting a great need for our customers. We have invested a lot in automation, to optimise the (logistics) processes in the warehouse and production. Also, the new production halls were commissioned in 2020. And with the purchase of energy-efficient machines, we are taking further steps towards sustainable production.
2021
For more than 93 years, Alumat Zeeman has managed to adapt to the ever-changing developments of the market and society. We also see that the International horticulture market is changing tremendously. The trend of internationalisation and economies of scale is accelerating. This has led BOAL Group, together with its strategic partner Equistone, to acquire Alumat Zeeman. This enables us to join forces and together realise our solid international growth plans faster and better.
2022
Na een indrukwekkende carrière van 34 jaar neemt Hans Zeeman afscheid van het familiebedrijf. Dit betekent ook het einde van de directe betrokkenheid van de Zeeman-familie bij het bedrijf. Ondanks zijn vertrek, laat Hans het bedrijf in zeer goede handen achter. Als onderdeel van de BOAL Group is de onderneming steviger dan ooit, mede dankzij de voordelen van synergie en schaalvergroting.
2023
Alumat Zeeman is trots deel uit te maken van de BOAL Group, welke een opmerkelijke prestatie heeft geleverd door binnen de Top 50 ESG-rating (Environmental, Social, and Governance) te vallen van alle bedrijven wereldwijd. Deze prestigieuze en onafhankelijke ESG-ranglijst, samengesteld door Sustainalytics, onderstreept onze toewijding aan duurzaamheid en plaatst ons in de elitecategorie van de top 1% bedrijven wereldwijd die door Sustainalytics zijn geëvalueerd.
